Lower Mainland Foot Care Nurses Association

About

A professional home for Lower Mainland foot care nurses

LMFNA is a member association for independent nursing foot care providers who value education, standards-informed practice, and professional connection.

Mission and professional context

LMFNA supports the continued professional and educational growth of foot care nurses while helping the public understand the association's role.

Who we are

We are a group of independent foot care nurses from British Columbia who meet at regular intervals to exchange ideas and new information about our profession.

As registered nurses, registered psychiatric nurses, licensed practical nurses, and nurse practitioners, members provide foot care to clients in various settings throughout the Lower Mainland.

How members approach care

Nursing foot care is available to individuals who are unable to perform their own foot care due to medical, physical, or mental health deficits.

In the process of delivering care, nurses complete a comprehensive assessment that considers the physical, emotional, psychosocial, economic, and spiritual needs of the person in relation to this important aspect of self-care.

Standards and scope

Members collaborate with the client's health care team and refer clients to appropriate professionals when needed.

Services are guided by best practice, professional standards, scope of practice, standards, limits and conditions, code of ethics, and regulatory bylaws as set out by BCCNM.

Association role

Independent nurses, direct client arrangements

LMFNA offers professional connection and referral visibility. It does not employ nurses or manage client services.

Not a substitute for podiatry

Nursing foot care works within nursing scope and referral practices. It is not podiatry medicine.

No employment relationship

The association is not an employer and is not in a contractor relationship with listed providers.

Direct care agreements

Clients arrange services directly with individual foot care nurses, who are responsible for their own service provision.
